WOMEN!

                                  WOMEN
                                       To clear a confusion
Women!!!Never been an easy topic to talk about. From the very beginning of the world, women are always been a topic to discuss in one form or another. Whichever religion we look into we can find very easily that there were women somewhere associated with the evolution of that religion let it be Manu-Shraddha for Hindus, Adam – Havaa for Muslims or Adam- Eve for Christians. This gives a clear picture that women are associated with some type of construction always in some form. Unfortunately women did not get that much importance in Muslim culture and they remained an object to create generation (No offence please) most of the time as history says. In Hinduism or Christianity they got far better response but time to time there are examples, when they were tried to put behind back doors.

Now, what is real concern of mine in writing this article is to talk about different shades of women character in different arena, whether women were in better situation before or they are in today as we never before heard this much of voices talking about women-empowerment. Now If we look back to different arena of Hindu culture; being Satyuga, Treta, Dwapar or Kaluga (present time), we will find that there has always been a different take on women. If in Satyuga Savitri represents the women of that arena, kind of power it shows that they had that time in their character. Then it was the Treta Yug, the time of Great Rama and the Ramayana, where we see different shades of women character in the frame, at the same time. We see kaikayee there, a very complex and strong character that shows a complete transformation OF character from a vamp like wife to a helpless trying to be good mother. There was Sita of course, a very strong lead character displaying pure feminine part of women, starting from love to the sacrifice at the end. There was Shurpanakha, another very important vamp character, which shows a very much unknown hidden dark side of female character at that time. As well as some very famous lady saints who changed their portrayal in the society, considering some famous one for example as Ahilya, Lopamudra(wife of saint Agastya) etc. Now when we get into the Dwapar Yug, we get to see even more variation as well as transformation in their portrayal. We see kunti, draupadi, radha meera, devaki, etc. which shows a gradual change in their presence in society. They seem to be far more influential as well as a present kind of independent thinking or to say openness towards their relationship. No doubt they were coming out of the limitation implemented over them in previous times but another side says that there was cultural degradation started in the society in some way or other. And then we see the Kaliyuga, present world or the world whose written history is available to us. Interestingly it starts with arts of Khajuraho and Alora caves that display a total hidden part of human kind publically for the first time in the history. I guess this was some kind of notification for the coming era where people were going to be way freer towards their physical relationships. We also get to see Marium (mother of jejus Christ), and again it was something non-acceptable to the society of that time. And on another note there were some women who were getting into power, politics and media of that time.

This whole discussion was just meant to get an overview of gradual change in women characters by time to time and of course in view of the society towards them. Today when we see a women becoming our president, we feel nothing but proud. We say that now is the time that they are coming along with men and are equal share holder in progress of any country. Here there Is a slight confusion that most of us can get into is that I am just trying to talk same old things about women and there is nothing new in this article but actually the reason why I talked this much on history of situation of women is that it will give us a better comparative look to feel the basic difference between real and fake women empowerment that we talk a lot now a days. If we try to look closely towards the real situation of women in our society at present, it can easily be found that there is a lot of confusion over the issue; interestingly even women are confused in themselves only. There are various aspects of this, first one that we talk about equal participation of women in every process and then we talk about giving reservation to them for every small to big thing. I don’t understand if they got the merit as well as talent then what is the need of this reservation. Isn’t it a fake portrayal of themselves as equal and by saying again and again about reservation? Are not we telling them they are nowhere equal to us in reality and if they want they can come on behalf of our mercy towards them in the form of reservation? I remember a very famous person said that “a repetitive negative response towards anything shows an attachment to that object somewhere in the background” and in the case of women reservation I think it is absolutely true that by telling them again and again that you are coming with us equally just because of reservation and in reality you are nowhere. And for a greater surprise I never saw any women leader getting into this psychology. We say that through reservation we give them a chance to come out and play their part in more effective way, c’mon isn’t that sounds like a crude joke, which says that you are someone who can do something only if we want you to else you are no one. We give a lot of examples today saying that these women are in power today only because of that reservation policy that has given them more freedom, I wonder if this could be the only reason that can bring women in picture as in history there are numerous examples indicating that women have came in power at different times without anything like this system called reservation; for example if we look at the history of modern India itself, we will find  various princesses of rajputana dinesty, who were famous for their bravery and skills to run a system. Even those times were way more difficult and sophisticated for them; they found their way to come out because of their real will and talent not the reservation.

Now, the real concern is not only this trap of reservation but also the confusing mind of women at present times. I know many of you can get furious over this statement of mine but trust me this is absolutely true. Today everyone says that they are getting their due respect and status in society but it is totally different what newspapers say on daily basis. Most of the column used to be related to women and unfortunately for their rapes, home violence, murder, eve teasing and this list continues. I really wonder if this way we say women are equal participant of society today, of course they are for these news no doubt!!! And what is most confusing is that if we leave the exceptions aside, we will find even women do not seem very much concerned with the situation. They seem very much happy to be the eye candy and enjoy the status of being at the other end of rope, Even a TV commercial can’t be a hit without showing attractive women, a calendar used to contain pictures of god & goddess and that’s been replaced by girls(almost naked!!!) today and perfect example of this are most of the today’s movies (it’s said that movies are true reflection of any society at that time) that shows women as nothing but an object to entertain everyone; let it be ‘sheela’ or ‘munni’, and unfortunately everyone seems too happy with these including women. And when I see them cheering for these songs in the theater, I feel disappointing and I just walk out with a question in my mind that is this place where we used to say “yatra nariyastu pujyante, ramante tatra devata”???

an article in an attempt to discover the most ancient and complex truth...

                                               GOD, WORK and LUCK’
                                                                             A truth to uncover…

God, work and luck, these are three terms that has been always a topic of argument right from the beginning of social human lives. Whether we look back to different reigns described in Hindu culture or in any other religion in the world, there have been some topics raised by the followers of respective religion about the most powerful out of these three that is capable of deciding future of any individual or society. (Here I am going to concentrate with Hindu background that I am well versed with and don’t want to create any controversy over my any unintentional statement, but real motive of this article is not bounded to any religion)
If we look back to ancient era of Hindu reign, there are number of chapters in various holy books that talk about these three. Of course most of them started with considering God as the most powerful one and taking the other two, luck and work as two sub-divisions of the all-in-all God. This theory is totally supported in all the four Vedas, various Upanishads and purans as well. This theory continued without any questioning till the times of Mahabharata, when the lord Krishna gave the most revolutionary as well as eye-opening preaches (the Gita) to arjuna regarding various issues related to these three topics. And no doubt still Gita is considered as the most authentic guide for any Hindu when it comes to any confusion related to any of these three topics.
But before I come at the real motive of this article, I would like to re-consider some of the most famous statements made in The Gita about the three topic god, luck and work (the real concern is not to talk about Gita, however for sure about some of the statements made by lord Krishna)
Considering god as the most powerful, at one place lord Krishna says that “I am the one and overall, start to end and every creation belongs to me including all your action-reaction”
In another, talking about work he says “you should work without any grieve or expectation”
About luck there are not so specific statements but what I am going to consider here is the general assumption that it always plays an important role in deciding the result of any action.

What I am really concerned about is the conflict over first between god and men, second luck Vs work. As it is said in Gita that god is everything and everything belongs to him then what about the other statement that god resides in you and you are a part of the god or can make you equal to god. Both of these statements comes in contrast with each other as one says I am everything and you are just my medium to do the things where in another statement it says that you are everything and if give a try can make yourself equivalent to god. both these statements cannot be considered at the same time as one statement portrays God as overall boss with men just as his rubber stamp what he can use as the way he wants to, not giving any individuality to the men himself. While the other statement makes space for both the God and men, giving them individuality and separating their places in a way that none of them looses their identity. Not to misunderstand that I am trying to portray men above God, all I am trying to find out which statement lead to a conclusion. Because there could be a number of paths but conclusion or result is always one.

Another conflict that I am mostly attached with is the conflict between luck and work. I always wonder which one out of these two is more powerful. Because even work is considered as the most powerful in deciding the future of any individual or group, many times even all the hard work does not pay the expected. As mentioned earlier about the statement from Gita that we should work without any grieve or expectation, if so then what about setting goals for oneself? Is it worth in present time that we should keep on working without keeping result in our mind? I wonder if that’s possible. And what about doing all the hard work but not getting what one should? Should not it worry the person? And if Luck is more powerful then work (what I think is true in my view) then how one should devote himself to work? No doubt many examples are there showing superiority of luck over work (what should not be in my view).
Again it should not be assumed that I am trying to put luck over the work and saying that we should stop working and should try to be lucky, I am just trying to bring some of the things residing deep inside in the light of our knowledge and believe.

Well, one more answer that should not be given for these questions is that there used to be exception and we should overlook them. I believe that such topics don’t have exception and it is very necessary for humankind to get the truth behind these uncovered to lead to an eternal life.

THE TIME

The TIME

The Time
Universal, eternal
Beyond any limitation
Goes as it wants to
A smooth flow
But turbulent sometime
It doesn’t know anyone
Behaves sometimes like
A small child
Can favor someone
Without any effort
While sometimes
doesn’t even gives
A look
No matter how hard we try
To impress
Feels strange!!!
Difficult to understand
Its behavior,
But we keep on trying
To find out, Why!!!
Missing
 That it’s not us who
Rules the Time
But it’s the Time
Who rules us.

lession of happiness

LESSON OF HAPPINESS

When I was kid

With all my weird imaginations

I used to dream to be the happiest person ever

And I used to wish to be like a king

Who could get anything

On a single dance of his finger

Who could have a number of servants

Just to follow all his orders

But!!!Even with all of this

It never felt that I could be happiest

It always had something missing

And my childish mind used to wonder

That what it could be

At the same time

I used to see a poor family, daily

On my way back from school

Sitting together roadside

In their small hut

Their children having no clothes

Running here and there

Playing with sands and bricks

Mother calling them for lunch

With nothing in hand but

Few dry bread pieces

And master of family

Sitting in a corner

Watching them with a strange smile

Kind of satisfaction

His eyes expressing happiness

Never seen before

Finally, one day with all my curiosity at its peek

I decided to go to him and

Ask whether he was really happy

Wondering if that’s possible anyway

But he replied, YES!!!

I was surprised how

Then he said

Son!!! Happiness is not about being a king

As u wish to be

Having whole world in your pocket, but

Happiness is about to be happy

Just because you want to be

Living in every moment

And making everyone happy

Doing what you are supposed to do

Honestly, and spreading smile

On everyone’s faces

And not to forget a line, that

“It too will pass”

And you will find

That how easy it is

To be happy...

Actually I was not able to

Understand the meaning

Behind his words

The feeling he wanted to express

And I wondered if he was true

But, now when I have grown

With lots of problems growing together

Again I wish to be happiest

And then all those word comes in my mind

Making me realize that how true that poor man was

That being happy is not that complex

As I used to think it to be

And now I don’t wish to be like that king…

we fear

WE FEAR TO CONFESS…

We fear

That one day we’ll get caught

Our sins will be there

To be seen by everyone

And we’ll be standing

Like a culprit, naked

In the middle of the town

Looking nowhere but

At the ground, under our own foot

Afraid of getting burned

By the fire

In the eyes of the people around

But what if we escape

And never get caught

Will we be able to live happily thereafter???

And guess what answer we get

NO!!! It sounds strange

But we know that it isn’t

Coz we always know what wrong we did

Coz someone is there always

Watching us at every moment

Counting up on our sins

And giving us warnings

That one day we’ll have to pay for it

Yeah that’s true

It’s our own soul

That’s never going to let us escape

Telling that we’ll have to face the charges sooner or later

And then there’ll be no other option

Then to confess…

I walked alone
(Prequel of when alone)
In dark nights
When no one in sight
I search for someone
Who can walk by side,

Unable to look around
I cry in pain
I close my eyes
Floating in emotional tide,

I feel myself as a small bird
Flying over the sea
With tired wings going up and down
Oh god!!! It hurts being left alone,

I remember my days
When with all my friends
I used to enjoy for whole night
Now when everyone gone
I feel myself as a small child
Who has no idea which way to go
I look around for someone again
Who can hold my hand
And help me to cross the lane,

But unable to find anyone there again
I close my eyes
To look for, someone again
Then I think of my crush and feels she is there
Sitting beside me with hand in hand
I feel so happy and try to sleep
With my head on her lap,
Then suddenly I feel my alarm ringing
BOOM!!! And everything was gone
I open my eyes and find I was dreaming
Sun was shining all over my face
And again I walked alone…

when alone

When alone
When no one around
When all alone
When feeling so down
When everything goes wrong,

I remember
My so sweet mom
Who loves no one
More than her son
It makes me feel like a king
Who can win
Even a war alone,

I remember
 my so strong dad
Who wants to see his son
Even stronger than
Himself
It makes me feel like I am the one
Who can catch even the sun alone,

I remember my lovely sisters
Who wants to see their brother
As hero of the nation
it makes me feel like I am the one
Who can do anything alone...

Oh god!!! How can I be alone
When my family is there with me
Praying, hoping, clapping for me
Then I feel I am never alone!!!

life in the valley

Life in the valley
Life…
Name of a flying bird
Flying in open sky,

Name of a dancing river stream
Flowing through rocky hills,

Name of a smile on the face of new born baby
Who smiles without any reason
Smile coz he wants to,

Name of the beautiful morning
In the valley
When a fisherman in the dull lake
Sings a folk in his typical style,
When a whole crowd
Prays to their god
With all of their hands wide open to the sky,

But life is also name of burning bodies of Childs
Died in a bomb explosion
Its true that he did not do anything wrong
But wanted to play football, when it did blast!!!

It is also name of dying hungry farmer family
Who can’t plow the field
Coz its curfew in the valley
Coz anytime a bomb can make his field look like hell
Coz anytime a landmine can make him die!!!

It is also name of a mother with puffy eyes
Who doesn’t know
Whether his piece of heart, his son
Will return home after school
Whether his hubby will come back home
Or whether she will be able
To protect herself from hungry wolves
Roaming in the valley
Who call themselves, freedom fighter!!!

Life is also name of the promises
Done by the politicians
Every time something goes wrong
And they want nothing but to save
their chair, at any cost!!!
